About Us

OPEN DOOR Fund
The ENABLE Fund was launched in July 2006.
It has since been revised to allow more employers to tap the fund to employ people with disabilities. With the revisions, the ENABLE fund has been renamed The
OPEN DOOR Fund. The OPEN DOOR Fund was the theme of the 2006 Disability Awareness Public Education programme, organized by National Council of Social Service. The term "Open Door" encapsulates the role of employers in opening doors for person with disabilities to secure employment. It also signifies the effort needed on the part of people with disabilities to acquire the necessary skill sets for work to walk through the open door.

Launched in May 2007, the OPEN DOOR Fund provides a comprehensive package of incentives to support companies' initiatives to implement job redesign, workplace modification, training and integration programmes for people with disabilities. The fund provides financial subsidies of up to $100,000 per project for companies who employ a minimum of 4 persons with disabilities.

The OPEN DOOR Fund is set up by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS); supported by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA); and administered by the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF).

Enabling Employers Network
The greatest barrier to employing Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) is often employers' concerns about their capabilities and productivity at work. To address this, an alliance of employers who have employees who are PWDs or employers who are supportive of employment of PWDs has formed an Employers Network to champion the Employment of PWDs. This net work was set up in April 2007.

Heading this new initiative as the Chairman of the Network is Mr David Wong, Managing Director and Chief Executive, S.E.A. ABN AMRO Bank N.V. Other members of the network include Mr Lim Cheng-Teck (Chief Executive of Standard Chartered Bank), Mr Shantha De Silva (GM of Holiday Inn Parkview), Ms Mary Yeo (Managing Director of United Parcel Service Singapore Pte Ltd), Mr Yun Chee Keen (Chief Financial Officer of Natural Cool Holdings), Ms Jean Lee (Managing Director of Carona Fast Food Pte Ltd), Mr Sim Kay Soon (Director (Operations) of KFC/Multibrand), Ms Amy Yuen (Chief Executive Officer of Healing Spa Pte Ltd), Ms Sim Sin Sin (Chief Executive Officer of Secret Recipe Café Pte Ltd), Ms Chan Yit Foon (Executive Vice President Human Resource of MediaCorp Pte Ltd), Ms Audrey Lee (Director of Business Management & Resources), Mr Charlie Seo (Deputy General Manager of Seo Eng Joo Frozen Food Pte Ltd) and Mr Tommy Ng (Senior Vice President for Corporate Services of SMRT Corporation Ltd). The Singapore National Employers Federation is the secretariat for the network.

The role in the Employers Network is to encourage their industry counterparts to employ PWDs by sharing their experiences with them.
